Making Mushrooms

Getting Started

Mushrooms make great scenery, either on their own base or as decorations on other bases. They are characterful, colourful, and easy to make.

We are going to make a small base of giant mushrooms. All you'll need is some green stuff, colourful paints, and a base.

Making Mushrooms

Firstly, make the caps out of green stuff. Just take a lump of green stuff, gently spin it between finger and thumb to shape it, then make a small indent (using a pencil or the end of a paintbrush) on the underside so it will hang over the stalk. Secondly, roll some green stuff to make stalks and attach them to the caps.

When the green stuff has hardened, paint the mushrooms with a thick coat of paint. Wait for the paint to dry, then stretch a thin layer of green stuff on the base and stand the mushrooms on it, so that they attach firmly. When everything has hardened and dried, paint or otherwise decorate the base to finish it.

Little mushrooms are also easy to make and add colour to scenery and unit bases. I cut up toothpicks to use for the stalks.
