Game 3: High Elves vs. Daemons of Chaos

Deployment

The High Elves deployed in one corner in a gunline and the Daemons of Chaos set up their battleline accordingly. The High Elf prince and one mage joined the swordmasters, the other two mages joined the spearmen unit. The Nurgle heralds each joined a plaguebearer unit and the unmounted herald of Tzeentch joined the pink horrors.

Turn 1

The Daemons of Chaos advance. The pink horrors unleash a Bolt of Change, killing 9 archers and panicking the last to flee the table. The mounted herald of Tzeentch casts Howler Wind.

The swordmasters move onto the hill. The bolt throwers kill 1 pink horror and 2 plaguebearers.

Turn 2

The Daemons surge forward. The Banner of Hellfire kills 2 swordmasters.

The swordmasters charge the plaguebearers, win the combat, and cause 2 plaguebearers to disintegrate. The High Elves dispel Howler Wind. The bolt throwers kill 4 pink horrors.

Turn 3

The other unit of plaguebearers join the combat and the swordmasters break, but are not caught. Howler Wind is cast again.

The swordmasters rally. The spearmen charge the plaguebearers, kill 1, and cause another 4 to disintegrate. The mage in the swordmasters unleashes The Burning Head which kills a plaguebearer. The Ring of Fury kills another plaguebearer. The bolt throwers inflict 2 wounds on the chariot.

Turn 4

The Hellfire Banner kills 5 swordmasters, 2 spearmen, and 1 crewman from each bolt thrower. The plaguebearers charge the swordmasters, break them, and run them down and off the table. The chariot charges a bolt thrower and overruns into the spearmen combat. The pink horrors also join the combat and their Banner of Change kills 4 spearmen. The spearmen break and are run down and off the table by the chariot. The pink horrors overrun into another bolt thrower, break it, and run down the crew.

Turn 5

Bolt of Change and Master of the Wood kill the last two bolt thrower crewman.

Summary

The Daemons of Chaos won the game convincingly, leaving nothing alive. The Nurgle heralds were the most influential models, as they provided Regeneration to their units and they also sucked up most of the High Elves' dispel dice by attempting to cast Miasma of Pestilence, so allowing the magic banners to inflict a lot of damage on the enemy.
