Deployment

Both the Dark Elves and the Wood Elves spread their battlelines across the table. The Dark Elf dreadlord joined the cold one knights, the master joined the black guard, and the assassin hid among the black guard; one sorceress rolled Conflagration of Doom and Fireball, the other rolled Word of Pain and Chillwind. The Wood Elf highborn joined the larger unit of eternal guard and the noble joined the smaller; the spellsinger rolled Ariel's Blessing.

Turn 1

The Wood Elves advance, preparing for the charge. The noble shoots down 1 black guard.

The chariot fails its stupidity test and wanders forward. The rest of the Dark Elves advance. Conflagration of Doom burns through 6 dryads and the other 2 are killed by crossbowmen. The bolt thrower misses the treeman.

Turn 2

The Wood Elves charge. One unit of wild riders charges the cold one knights, kills 2, but then suffers 3 wounds from the dreadlord and 1 more from the unit, breaks, and gets run down. The dryads and the other unit of wild riders charge the spearmen, but lose the combat. The treeman and tree kin break and run down the hydra. The Hail of Doom Arrow kills 5 black guard.

The cold one knights fail their stupidity test and wander further away from the battle. Crossbow fire inflicts 1 wound on the treeman. Conflagration of Doom is dispelled by scroll and Word of Pain is dispelled by dice. The spearmen and black guard charge the eternal guard and kill 7, but their stubborn enemy doesn't break. The highborn issues a challenge and the assassin accepts, but An Annoyance of Netlings denies him any hits and the highborn slays him. The dryads and wild riders kill 8 spearmen and run down the rest; the wild riders overrun into a sorceress.

Turn 3

The treeman charges the bolt thrower and kills the crew. The wild riders break the sorceress and she flees the table. The highborn issues another challenge and suffers a wound to the lordling before slaying him.

The chariot fails its stupidity test again. The remaining sorceress miscasts when attempting to cast Conflagration of Doom on the treeman; she survives but can't do anything more that magic phase. Crossbow fire kills 2 eternal guard.

Turn 4

The wild riders position to charge the cold one knights next turn. The treeman charges the crossbowmen but loses a wound as they stand and shoot. The smaller unit of eternal guard join the central combat, which the Wood Elves then win.

The Dark Elves concede.

Summary

The Wood Elves won the game. The most influential unit was the treeman, as it smashed its way through the rare units and survived mostly unscathed. The Dark Elves were quickly out-manoeuvred and suffered throughout the game due to stupidity.
