Game 6: Daemons of Chaos vs. Wood Elves
Mushrooms

Deployment

The Daemons of Chaos deployed in one corner, whereas the Wood Elves spread their battleline across the table. The Nurgle heralds each joined a plaguebearer unit and rolled the spell Miasma of Pestilence; the unmounted herald of Tzeentch joined the pink horrors and chose the Lore of Life; the herald on the chariot chose the Lore of Fire. The Wood Elf general joined the smaller unit of eternal guard, the noble joined the larger, and the spellsinger rolled the spell Tree Singing.

Turn 2

The dismounted herald joins the pink horror unit and the unit shuffled forward again. The Nurgle heralds cast their Miasmas of Pestilence. Bolt of Change against the treeman is dispelled with a srcoll. Fiery Blast kills 1 eternal guard. A Staff of Nurgle kills 4 more eternal guard.

The Wood Elves charge. The larger unit of eternal guard and the treeman charge the pink horrors, inflict 1 wound on each herald, kill 2 pink horrors, and 2 more disintegrate. Weakened by Miasma of Pestilence, the wild riders kill 2 plaguebearers, but lose the combat and one unit flees into the forest.

Turn 3

An irresistible Gift of Chaos only kills 1 eternal guard (in the larger unit). Both heralds refresh their Miasmas of Pestilence. One herald of Tzeentch casts Flaming Sword of Rhuin. A Staff of Nurgle kills 5 dryads. The Banner of Change is dispelled with a scroll. The wild riders in combat are killed. The pink horrors win their combat, breaking the eternal guard.

The wild riders and eternal guard rally. The smaller unit of eternal guard charge the plaguebearers' flank, kill 1, and cause another 2 to disintegrate.

Turn 4

Gift of Chaos inflicts 2 wounds on the treeman, kills 2 eternal guard, and kills 1 dryad. A Staff of Nurgle kills 8 more eternal guard from the larger unit. The Hellfire Banner destroys the treeman, kills another eternal guard, and inflicts 2 wounds on the tree kin. The Wood Elf general challenges the Nurgle herald; the combination of An Annoyance of Netlings and Miasma of Pestilence leads to an uneventful fight, but the plaguebearers lose the combat overall and 4 disintegrate.

The eternal guard and the tree kin charge the pink horrors, kill the herald (with Lore of Life), but then break. The dryads charge the plaguebearers, but also break. The pursuing plaguebearers clip the tree kin, who must flee again. (The fleeing is shown on the Turn 5 diagram for clarity.) The other plaguebearers lose the combat again and 2 more disintegrate.

Turn 5

The plaguebearers charge the broken eternal guard, tree kin, and dryads, forcing them to flee again. Their herald's Staff of Nurgle kills the remaining 4 eternal guard and inflicts 1 wound on the noble. The pink horrors turn to face the main combat. Gift of Chaos kills the noble and 1 dryad. Fiery Blast kills 3 wild riders. The Nurgle herald inflicts 1 wound on the Wood Elf general, but the plaguebearers lose the combat again and 4 more disintegrate. The dryads are released from the combat.

The dryads charge back in. The wild riders also charge the plaguebearers and kill 2. The herald kills the Wood Elf general.

Summary

The Daemons of Chaos won the game. By a succession of unlucky rolls, the Wood Elves didn't manage to dispel anything and were wracked by magic. The treeman stood his ground for a while, but achieved very little in combat. The combination of Miasma of Pestilence and Nurgle palanquins once again proved brutal.
